Try to imagine, that your
grandchildren can´t speak with you in your language......
Learn your family the

language from childhood!
Learn your family the

Moriones Festival, Marinduque The Moriones Festival is known widely as one of the most colorful festivals celebrated on the island of Marinduque and the Philippines The Moriones is an annual festival held on Holy Week on the island of Marinduque, Philippines. The "Moriones" are men and women in costumes and masks replicating the garb of biblical Roman soldiers as interpreted by local folks. The Moriones or Moryonan tradition has inspired the creation of other festivals in the Philippines where cultural practices or folk history is turned into street festivals. |
| Video |
Marinduque Moriones "Via Crusis 2010". The Moriones is an annual festival held on Holy Week on the island of Marinduque, Philippines. One of the highlights of this festival is the Via Crucis. A re-enactment of the suffering of Christ on his way to the calvary. Men inflict suffering upon themselves by whipping their backs, carrying a wooden cross and sometimes even crucifixion. They see this act as their form of atonement for their sins. This weeklong celebration starts on Holy Monday and ends on Easter Sunday. |

Visita Iglesia in the Philippines
History and tradition |
| Video |
Visita Iglesia, Manila The Visita Iglesia is a tradition practiced every Maundy Thursday in the Philippines. Traditionally, one would visit 7 churches, to recite, pray and contemplate on the Stations of the Cross, two stations for each church. Some opted to extend this practice to 14 churches, one Station of the Cross for each church. This is usually done during the evening, after the Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the Altar of Repose. However, many people start the Visita Iglesia during the day.

Stations of the Cross (or Way of the Cross; in Latin, Via Crucis; also called the Via Dolorosa or Way of Sorrows, or simply, The Way) is a series of artistic representations, very often sculptural, depicting Christ Carrying the Cross to his crucifixion in the final hours (or Passion) of Jesus before he died, and the devotions using that series to commemorate the Passion, often moving physically around a set of stations. The vast majority of Roman Catholic churches now contain such a series, typically placed at intervals along the side walls of the nave; in most churches these are small plaques with reliefs or paintings. The tradition as chapel devotion began with St. Francis of Assisi and extended throughout the Roman Catholic Church in the medieval period. It may be done at any time, but is most commonly done during the Season of Lent, especially on Good Friday and on Friday evenings during Lent. |

Salubong ("Sugat" in Cebuano) One of the Easter practices unique to the Philippines and other countries influenced by Spanish conquistadores is the celebration of the salubong. The word salubong refers to the act of meeting someone who is arriving. Easter Vigil:
Papuri Sa Diyos - Tagalog for Glory to God in the Highest This is the Roman Catholic 'Gloria' sung in Tagalog whose tune was composed by Philippine composer E. P. Hontiveros. The Choir singing is from Cavite City and this was the Gloria on Easter Vigil which proceded the seventh reading (Ezekiel) and preceded the Epistle (Romans). This was performed on the recently restored (2006) Pels & Sons four-manual pipe organ of 104 ranks at the Manila Cathedral, Basilica Minor of the Immaculate Conception, Intramuros, Manila. This is the largest pipe organ in all of Southeast Asia. |

Sta. Lucia Falls - The Healing Waters of Mt. Banahaw Mount Banahaw is one of the active volcanos in the Philippines. Part of a volcanic group, it is located along the boundary of Laguna and Quezon provinces, on the island of Luzon. The mountain and its environs are considered sacred by the local residents because of its "holy water", which allegedly have beneficial qualities, issuing forth from local springs and its "puwestos, or the "holy sites". These are composed of unique, natural features such as rocks, caves and springs with shrines erected in, on or around them, their location having been revealed to a man in the Spanish Era by the "Santo Boses" or the "Holy Voice".
