"Never forget the roots of your family"
A little serious of our mind:
Try to imagine, that your
grandchildren can´t speak with you in your language......
Learn your family the
language of the roots, so your family - children can speak their
language from childhood!
Learn your family the
culture of the roots, so your family understand and respect the roots e.g.
Mano Po!

Philippine Culture and Mano Po In the Philippines, children are taught to respect their elders. One way of expressing respect is by "kissing" the right hand of an older person when you greet them. Several symbolic ways in which respect is given to elders is in the use of language by calling older Filipinos “Po” and older siblings, cousins and family friends “Kuya” and “Atee”. The History of Valentines Day - a Pagan Celebration "Christianity Took Over Valentines Day" The Romans celebrated a Pagan holiday on February 14th to honor Juno Fructifier, Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses as well as goddess of marriage. In one ritual, women would submit their names to a common box and men would each draw one out. These two would be a couple for the duration of the festival (and at times for the entire following year). Both rituals were designed to promote not only fertility, but also life generally. Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world. It complements Father's Day, a celebration honoring fathers. |
![]() |
When is Mother's Day? While Filipinos mark Mother's Day in May, the official celebration should be on the first Monday of December. This is because of Proclamation No. 58, issued in 1998 by then President Joseph Estrada, which declared the first Monday of December as Mother's and Father's Day. |

In the Philippines Father's Day is not an official holiday, but it is widely observed on the 3rd Sunday of June. Most Filipinos born in the 1960s and 1970s did not celebrate Father's day, but Filipinos now follow this tradition and other American holidays, most likely due to the influence of the United States through television and the internet. In the Roman Catholic tradition, Fathers are celebrated on Saint Joseph's Day, commonly called Feast of Saint Joseph, March 19, though in certain countries Father's Day has become a secular celebration. It is also common for Catholics to honor their "spiritual father," their parish priest, on Father's Day. Look ref. HERE |

Sungka - A traditional filipino game Sungka is a Philippine mancala game which is today also played wherever Philippine migrants are living; e.g. in Taiwan, Germany, and the USA. Like the closely related congkak it is traditionally a women's game. Sungka was first described outside of Asia in 1894 by the American ethnologist Stewart Culin. Although the sungka rules are not much different from those of congkak, sungka is perceived as a genuinely Philippine game by native players. Look the full description of the video

Hampas-Palayok (also known as Pukpok Palayok) is a fun game played during Filipino fiestas and traditional parties. The Tagalog words hampas and pukpok mean 'to hit.' |
| Video |
Games - Traditional - Palayok This is how it's played. - A traditional earthen pot called a palayok is filled with goodies (wrapped candies, coins...) and suspended in the air. A player is blindfolded and then spun around to disorient her. A stick is put in her hand and she is told to walk in a straight line towards where the pot is hanging and try to hit it. The crowd shouts out instructions at her. "Go straight, to the left, to the right, stop!" She gets one attempt to hit it hard enough to break. If she doesn't break the pot, another guest at the party gets his turn. If she breaks it, it's a free-for-all and everyone in the crowd goes for the goodies. The player who successfully smashes the palayok is given a prize. Remark 4 videos in the album |

Help us to get more Links, Photo & Video on "About Philippines"
Please send such "things"
We have never ask for
payment for link or place - will never do it, and no-one can "pay for a place -
add" on our sites incl.
in the Photo & Videostation, and we
use ONLY
recommended link - photos - videos on our sites
recommended - sent - given from persons from Philippines or persons with relation to Philippines.
Unfortunately, so sometimes we get "things" and use them and so later have to
erase them, because someone tells he - she owe it and has copyright, so please
control, that you have the right to give it to us for upload, and try to tell,
why you think, you have that right
Remember, that we have to trust both YOU, who have recommended - sent - given it & later the person, who says the link - video is illegal - wrong PLEASE tell, if
you think, a link or video, which we have got and uploaded to our sites is ILLEGAL - wrong,
send a message with the link to us and tell WHY, so at once we can erase it - please look
HERE
and
HERE
(both open in a new windows)
You are always welcome to click and use
